Los Angeles is located in the sunny state of California. It is the second most populous city of the United States. It is a state that exudes many flavors as it is very culturally diverse. After New York City, Los Angeles is the second most important economic hub for the whole of United States. As the home ground of Hollywood, it is considered the place where dreams come true. Initially populated by the Red Indians, Los Angeles was later found by the Europeans invaders. Los Angeles is a metropolitan area that is as diverse topographically as it is culturally. It has both flat lands and hilly areas, with the whole Santa Monica Mountain Range included in the area. It is a basin which connects to the Pacific Ocean. Due to the faulty and instable shape of the land, Los Angeles is considered a critical Earthquake Zone. It has experienced a number of serious earthquakes in the past.

The city enjoys sunny days all year round with only a handful of rainy ones. Snowfall is almost totally unheard of in the area. Although the city comes to life with many blinking and eye catching lights, it usually stays covered with the gloominess of smog. The smog is a combination of hazardous smoke and fog that rises up and floats as a constant poisonous cloud over the city. It has been known to cause serious health issues as it leads to chronic lung diseases. Los Angeles has a well-to-do economy that supports the business infrastructure of more than half of the state of California. The economy depends mostly on international trade and the entertainment sector. Technological findings and advances are also a major part of the revenue generated by the city along with the fashion and tourism industries. The private education district of Los Angeles is considered the biggest employer for the public and contributes a lot to the economy. Los Angeles puts a great emphasis on education. It has many of the world’s best educational institutes, both private and public.


Although the local public schools are considered overcrowded and understaffed, many governmental projects are underway to raise funds so that they can be properly maintained. Its private schools are in much better shape as compared to the public ones. In fact, most of them are top of the line and equally expensive. The colleges and universities of the city are the some of the most sought after institutes of the entire United States. University Of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) are the best public universities that provide great educational opportunities for both local and foreign students. Moreover, Los Angeles also boasts about its Public Library that serves the community through 72 branches. It offers a great many books on all subjects with state of the art computer and internet access that is a major asset for students and their projects. It also acts as a leisurely past time for the elderly who look for a good book that can keep them company.
